In an environmentally conscious world, it is critical that we maximize the use of all our resources. Cattle are the source of milk products and meats as well as tanned hides for the clothing that we wear. The same goes for other of our farmed animals such as sheep, goat or pig, all of which supply us with food as well as hides. The traditional farm animals are now joined by newer farms which include eel, fish, ostrich, alligator, and stingray in order to feed our expanding global population. With the advent of a newer, more sophisticated tanning process, we are now able to process leather from less traditional hides. The once discarded hides are the fashions of today.
